St. Maarten/St. Martin -- There are more website pages on the Worldwide Web than there are people in the world. More than 9.5 billion to be precise. No wonder that websites most often, if not always, get lost amongst thousands of Google and Yahoo listings, never to be seen. After all, who goes to page 15 of a keyword search? No one. "What is wrong with this picture and what can we do to remedy it?" a group of local web developers wondered?
For our corner of the world, the answer became ZebraBOT, a "pocket market" search engine for St. Maarten/St. Martin, with expansion plans that include franchising out into the other Caribbean Islands.
Similar to search engines such as Google and Yahoo, ZebraBOT was developed to ultimately zoom in on island by island Caribbean searches and in doing so, eliminate the irrelevant listings of Google and Yahoo a searcher most often encounters when seeking specific island information as this has become progressively a problem for the searcher as well as the advertiser.
Advertisers, who have spent the time, money and effort to build websites to capture sales for their businesses, want their websites to be seen. Plain and simple. Standing out from the crowd has always been the first requirement for success in business, but with 9.5 billion web pages out there, even the smartest, most attractive, craziest or kinkiest website faces the problem of being noticed.
"Search engines work not only on keywords, but also on advertising and 'pay per click' revenues," says Len Schultz, one of the content developers of ZebraBOT. "If you search Google or Yahoo for example for 'car rentals, St. Maarten, St. Martin', you come up with a very few of them before the search engine is off to other destinations and other interpretations of those four keywords and in doing so, virtually eliminates the possibility of a 'specific search' website being seen."
What happened to all the other 100 or so car rentals that should have been shown for those specific keywords? They have been pushed way down the list below those that may not even answer to the specific keywords (in this case St. Maarten, St. Martin) but do pay the most money. Advertisers then are not only competing with others in their own market but also with thousands and tens of thousands of others in markets throughout the world. The same is true when searching for other keyword specific information such as restaurants, hotels, resorts, shops, watersports and other island based businesses and services.
The answer to this confusion is www.zebrabot.com! Designed and maintained by Lex Euston and his team, the search engine is dedicated exclusively to the St. Maarten/St. Martin market.
"A search request for 'car rentals' on the ZebraBOT search engine will give pure link listings to ONLY those on this island", adds Schultz, "No confusion and no misdirection. Everything the island has to offer. Nothing about Aruba, Barbados, Miami, the Himalayas or Kalamazoo, Michigan. Only St. Maarten/St. Martin. Nothing else. Now, your website will not only be seen, but you will finally be enabled to effectively add online promotion to your business activities and have access to the single greatest marketing tool ever devised: The World Wide Web".
And how does ZebraBOT work?
"Like Google and Yahoo, ZebraBOT works on keywords and client pay-per-click," says Lex Blackman, "You can log on at www.zebrabot.com to surf the site and its entries to see how your business can be displayed. In addition, on the upper left of the ZebraBOT Home Page, you can click on 'Help' and then on 'Power Point' on the left hand menu for detailed information on how ZebraBOT works and what it offers. By clicking on 'Submit Site', also on the Home Page, you can even submit your website yourself, using simple guidelines".
If you need further help you can contact ZebraBOT by e-mail through the website or phone either 544-5857 or 526-2286 for personal instruction or to have a ZebraBOT professional visit you at your business. |
